The American Choral Directors Association Eastern Region will hold a research poster session at the conference in Providence, RI, February 25-28, 2026. The intent of the research poster session is to showcase current research that impacts and informs our profession and to connect colleagues with research in choral music. We encourage research submissions of any type with a focus on choral music and/or choral music education (e.g., performance practice, conducting pedagogy, teaching and/or rehearsal pedagogy, vocal development, critical editions, theoretical analysis, or composition). Of particular interest is research that explores these topics through the lens of our conference theme, ENVISION, which looks to a future where choral music is universally accessible, inclusively practiced, and unites diverse voices.
A poster session is a research report format used to allow researchers to share their work and engage in informal discussions with colleagues and other conference attendees. The poster session space will accommodate up to a 36” x 48” poster. Your poster should be a single black and white or full color document no larger than 36” x 48” inches in size and light enough to be pinned to a display board with push pins (available at the conference venue).
The research that informs the proposed poster must comply with the following guidelines:
- The paper may have been submitted for publication but must not be in print or in press prior to the submission deadline of the conference.
- The research may have been presented previously only if the audiences were substantially different from ACDA-Eastern (e.g., other regions, state conferences, university symposiums etc.).
- Standard research methodologies (descriptive, quantitative, qualitative, mixed methods, historical, theoretical, or content analysis) are welcomed. Simple reviews of literature will not be accepted unless authors propose a new synthesis or theoretical framing of a topic with practice or research application.
Submission Requirements:
- Name(s), contact information and institution(s) for all presenters
- Poster Title
- Abstract and References
- Prepare a single PDF document that includes:
- An 500-550 word abstract summarizing the research (purpose, method, results, discussion, and implications)
- A brief list of essential references that support the research. References not included in the word count.
- Style must conform to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th edition, 2020), A Manual for Writers of Term Papers, Theses, and Dissertations (K. L. Turabian, 8th edition, 2013) or The Chicago Manual of Style (16th edition, 2003).
- Name(s) or affiliation(s) of anyone involved in the submission must not appear in the abstract document.
- Presenters must be current members of ACDA, and all persons whose work is selected for inclusion on the program are expected to register for the conference. It is understood that ACDA will not assume financial responsibility for travel, food, or lodging for poster session presenters. Your submission implies that you are prepared to travel and present at the conference if accepted.
All submissions will undergo anonymized peer-review by a committee.
