The Choral Collegiate: Welcome to Fall

Happy Fall semester everyone! I hope your semester is off to a positive and energetic start!

We have exciting collegiate-related articles and events coming up way in the coming months so keep checking the page as it updates.

One of the exciting events this academic year is the ACDA Eastern-Regional Convention in Providence Rhode Island, Feb 28 – March 2, 2024. As part of the convention, there will be a COLLEGIATE CONDUCTING MASTERCLASS,  led by FOUR amazing conductors and educators:

Arianne Abela (Director of Choral Activities, Amherst College),  Caron Daley (Director of Choral Activities, Duquesne University),  Jeffrey Douma (Professor in the Practice of Choral Music Yale University), and Jason Max Ferdinand (Director of Choral Activities, University of Maryland).

Application will open mid-October (check the ACDA East website) and more details will be announced soon, but it’s not too early to have your conducting students aware of the opportunity and start compiling their conducting videos for the application.  Students don’t have to music majors to apply –just have to be enrolled as a full-time student.  This is a great opportunity for students to learn and we hope many of your students will consider applying.

To kick-start the year, here’s an opportunity for students!

Are you a student (undergraduate and graduate) pursuing a career in choral music?  Are you enrolled at a not-for-profit educational institution? If so, you might be interested and eligible for this STUDENT CHORAL GRANT ($1000). For more information: https://www.mjtrotta.com/home/grant-terms/

If you have any questions, or you would like to contribute an article to our blog, please email me (Dr. Katherine Chan): Katherine.chan@acdaeast.org

I wish everyone well for the semester and more to come from us at ACDA East!

Best

Katherine
