BOSTON 2022 Interest Session Application

The ACDA Eastern Region Conference Committee is excited to be accepting Interest Session proposals for the 2022 conference. We are looking for sessions that will RESONATE with the conference guiding values statement. Interest session proposals will be accepted through June 15th. Conference Guiding Principles

We all seek experiences that RESONATE with us: emotionally, spiritually, intellectually, musically. In choral music, we also seek the resonance of the voice through our bodies and in performance spaces. As conductors, it is our mission to create experiences that will RESONATE in numerous ways. 

Performances often RESONATE with a person because they vibrate sympathetically with some experience that the individual carries within, and the impact of those experiences cannot be underestimated; however, it might be true that only certain experiences have been represented, perhaps making it difficult to find resonance and relevance for many. 

The 2022 ACDA Eastern Region Board and Conference Committee seek to create sound waves that travel further in different directions, fostering diversity and inclusivity in ways that RESONATE with more people. The concerts, sessions, and presentations will reflect the many different life experiences and realities of our members and those we hope will become part of our shared resonance.

Interest Session Application Process Timeline

April 15, 2021: Online application opens
June 15, 2021: Online application closes
July 15, 2021: Applicants notified of their status via email.

For this conference only, you do not need to be a member of ACDA to apply to this conference and membership status will not be considered in the selection process. If, however, you are not yet a member of ACDA or if your membership has lapsed, you will be required to join or renew as a condition of conference participation. We are temporarily deviating from the normal requirements for membership because of the hardships brought about by the pandemic.

Application Requirements

1. Session Title – The session title should be carefully considered, brief, attractive and reflect actual workshop content, and be no longer than 10 words.
2. Session Abstracts 
   1. 500 words which will be used to help evaluate your session and used in the conference app. 
   2. 100 words which will solely be used in Choral Journal advertisements
3. Detailed outline – describing what your session will entail. 
   1. Please note: outlines must be in .pdf format. 
4. Headshot in .jpg format

Please note that each session is only 50 minutes in length.

Terms of Agreement

By submitting an application to present , you consent to being audio and video recorded with no financial compensation from ACDA or the recording company if chosen to present  in the convention. ACDA assumes no financial responsibility for presenter/performer travel, food, or lodging. However, ACDA Eastern Region is committing to assisting with the financial burden of Spotlight and Concert Choirs’ conference participation, through providing counsel and support in the budgeting process, helping ensembles to access resources for funding, or by partially subsidizing funding (in collaboration with the state chapters) once an ensemble has been invited to perform.
