Camille Saucier is a highly recognized choral conductor, educator, clinician, producer, and choral arts leader whose career has been dedicated to building community through the transformative power of choral singing. For more than three decades, she has created innovative, mission-driven choral programs that bring people together across generations, backgrounds, and experiences, fostering lifelong participation in the choral arts.
As Founder and Artistic Director of Voices In Harmony, established in 2001, Saucier has spent over two decades creating and sustaining community-based singing opportunities throughout Southern Maine. Under her leadership, Voices In Harmony has served hundreds of singers ranging from children to adults and has become known for its commitment to musical excellence, accessibility, and meaningful human connection. Among her proudest accomplishments is the revival of the Inner Voices Choir, a vibrant 70-voice women’s chorus dedicated to empowering singers and audiences through uplifting and inspiring repertoire that amplifies women’s voices, builds community, and encourages understanding during challenging and divisive times.
Saucier also serves as Artistic Director of the Portland Community Chorus, a 120-voice auditioned ensemble recognized for its high-quality performances, innovative programming, and commitment to community engagement. Through thoughtfully curated concert themes, she creates artistic experiences that explore topics such as peace, social connection, mental health, history, resilience, family, and belonging. Her programs frequently feature collaborations with local artists, schools, musicians, and community organizations, expanding the reach and impact of choral music throughout the region.
A passionate advocate for lifelong community singing, Saucier has produced and directed numerous large-scale choral initiatives, including international friendship concerts and cultural exchange programs. She annually directs the Voices In Harmony Peace Choir, leading singers on performance tours throughout Europe and beyond. Choirs under her direction have performed in countries including Ghana, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Norway, France, Italy, Bulgaria, Portugal, Croatia and more, sharing music as a means of cultural understanding and global connection.
Throughout her career, Saucier has demonstrated a talent for building and strengthening community music programs. As a volunteer choir director for a Unitarian Universalist congregation in Saco, Maine, she expanded the choir to become one of the largest and most vibrant groups within the church, ultimately helping establish a permanent paid music leadership position while securing facility improvements and a donated piano to support the program’s future growth.
Her extensive experience also includes preparing and coordinating choirs for professional touring productions and artists, including Rocktopia and Josh Groban, as well as collaborations with the Portland Symphony Orchestra. In 2018, she produced and conducted a landmark performance of Paul Winter’s Missa Gaia alongside the composer and the Paul Winter Consort. Throughout her career, she has frequently organized benefit concerts supporting charitable causes and community initiatives throughout Maine.
An accomplished composer, vocalist, pianist, and conductor, Saucier composed the original musical A Little Princess, which premiered in both the United States and Norway. She maintained an active career as a collaborative pianist for over twenty years, accompanying choirs, festivals, soloists, and fellow conductors throughout New England. A respected guest clinician and adjudicator, she has conducted and worked with Elementary All-State Choirs, All-State Jazz Choirs, honor choirs, and festival ensembles across the region.
Prior to focusing full-time on artistic leadership, Saucier served as a public and private school music and choral educator in Maine for twenty years, inspiring young musicians through classroom instruction and ensemble performance. She holds degrees in Music Education from Berklee College of Music and the University of Maine and was selected for advanced study in Henry Leck’s prestigious Creating Artistry conducting program.
A dedicated leader within the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), Saucier has served the Maine chapter for more than twenty years in numerous capacities, including festival leadership, Repertoire & Resources Chair, and as State President. She currently serves as the Eastern Region Repertoire & Resources Chair for Community & Lifelong Choirs, representing community-based choral programs throughout the Northeastern United States. In this role, she advocates for accessible, meaningful, and sustainable singing opportunities for singers of all ages, championing the vital role community choirs play in enriching lives and strengthening communities.
Saucier’s work is guided by a simple yet powerful belief: that singing together creates connection, understanding, and belonging. Through her leadership, she continues to build bridges between people, communities, and cultures—one song at a time.
