Call for Proposals: Interest Sessions
ACDA Eastern Division Conference
March 7th – 10th, 2018
ACDA members and members of associate professional and scholarly societies are invited to submit interest session proposals for the ACDA Eastern Division Conference to be held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on March 7th – 10th, 2018.
Application Due Date: April 15, 2017
Interest Session Applications are now closed.
The selection committee will be guided in their acceptance process by the following criteria:
- Quality of the written summary including its objectives and organization
- Importance and timeliness of the topic
- Consideration of conference theme “Building Bridges”
- Practical applicability to the membership of the Eastern Division
- Overall conference program balance
A variety of session formats are offered. The committee will consider lectures, clinics, panels, demonstration sessions, repertoire sessions, or any other forum that speaks to the musical, intellectual, and technical issues faced by choral musicians. It is also expected that the full palette of interest sessions, as a whole, will reflect a wide spectrum of styles, cultures, literature and musicians. NOTE: all sessions will be 50 minutes in length and delivered twice during the conference.
While embracing ACDA’s ongoing commitment to inspiring performance at the highest musical standards, we seek to broaden our influence and resourcefulness to reflect the realities of being a choral director in the 21st century. In doing so, we invite renewed efforts in reaching out to choral communities and their conductors, including those not currently engaged with the American Choral Directors Association with the desire to enrich the musical livelihoods of the entire constituency.
